This is a post about the day my girls' dreams came true. Look, you can see it in her eyes.
Really though. REAL pony rides!! Portola Farms and Jan Pearce Training in Woodside invited the girls to come for a ride on their gorgeous pony and were met with a thrilled "how soon can we come?" These aren't the sort of offers we would refuse around here. We snagged the car from my husband for the day, and took a drive down to Woodside.
I kept the whole thing a secret from my children, and when we pulled up they squealed, "I SEE HORSIES!" ... This is the stuff, folks. Seeing your children elated is one of the most heartwarming things possible. Seriously.
We went into the barn and gazed at the horses in their stalls before we were lead to the pony they would ride. Her name is Sweet Pea and she's the most magical animal they've ever seen. "She's so beautiful," said my wide-eyed two-year-old. They were fitted for helmets, and Sophie sweetly {or nervously?} said Maggie can go first. Maggie was thrilled and off she went... ps. Pardon the explosion of pictures, but when your children ride ponies, it's absolutely necessary.
Maggie kept saying "good job!" rather than "whoa," and patting her was her favorite part.
You know that smile you see on your child that means they're too happy to do anything but manage a delighted little giggle? This is that. It's a mix of pride and nerves and excitement and joy. It's the BEST, that's what it is.
I'm thinking we'll make this a regular summer trip. The excitement and chatter Brian heard when the girls were home and telling him about their experience made us want to get them back as soon as we can!
Much thanks to Esther, Portola Farms & Jan Pearce Training for the most amazing day!! Get your kiddos {or yourself!!} out there asap! xoxox.
